minivend tag problems in "report"

I am having problems in two different areas. 
1 - [discount] tags need to be put in each html file.
2 - [discount] tags not processed correctly in report.


I am using discount tags in the html code to apply quantity 
discounts to individual products based on the number of items in 
a category (of multiple products).  I have to make a pass over the 
basket that sets a perl hash value (keyed on the category) to the 
correct count.  I then use the [discount] tag to apply a discount.
This works just fine in any individual page.  The problem is, I have
to have the code in each individual html page.  It seems like I should
only need it in the basket code (I have a similar site that does it this
way) and the [discount-subtotal] would be correct thereafter.

The above problem is not a huge deal until I run into this problem:
When minivend hits report, this code does not work anymore.  I cant
use [discount] tags and I cant use the perl hash vars in the code anymore.
It seems like the report file is processed very differently than the 
html code.  I was able to figure out that the report output is sent via
email to the vendor.  Internally the code updates some databases.

Any ideas on how to get minivend to treat report more like the html
templates?  Also, any ideas on why my discount info needs to be redone
for each page?  Is this a matter of updating the userdb with info about
the session?
