Hello everyone, I'm back,

     Out of recommendation of a Minivend user, I set up a Linux/Windows
network to run as a test bed for my catalogs.  I dropped from the List to
figure out the networking troubles and Linux set-up issues.  Now I am back
with a Minivend/Linux question.

     What I am working with:

          1)  I have the latest version of Perl, Linux Mandrake and
Minivend.  (I am a new-be to all three of these)

          2)  Minivend is installed in   /root/mvend .

          3)  Logged in as root, I follow directions to set up the flycat
catalog demo.  (I understand that this does not use databases,  perfect for
my needs!)  At the command prompt, I  type in " bin/makecat flycat "  The
computer prints out " *** We will be making a catalog named 'flycat' . *** "

         Problem:       It hangs here and does not let me proceed any
further!


     What I have tried:
          1)  Re-download and install Minivend

          2)  Log in as the only other user rather than root.

          3)  Also, I tried  running the 'simple' catalog, but received the
same results.
