RE: [mv] what causes .gdbm to rebuild?
****** message to minivend-users from Michael James <mwjames@ak.planet.gen.nz> ******
Hi,
I cant say when the products.dbm is created but when I edit my products.asc
file of line and upload it the new products and changes are instantly
available without reconfiguring the catalog or restarting it.
I fell into the trap as old as the books of uploading my products.asc as a
binary from my windows machine to the linux server which produced some odd
results
RE report on products under categories the one click search function does
this. See the index.html and results.html pages in the simple demo.
I use an access database for the client to edit/add products before
exporting to a file to upload. Its pretty simple to produce any variety of
reports with this. There are many ways to skin a cat in this department
;-).
Cheers
Michael

Hi,
Sorry, but the urgency is thus: I need to have a handle on how to add,
update, remove products and the categories they go into before I can use
Minivend. I noticed that after adding a few products and restarting a few
times (or now perhaps it was after I did a search in the demo) that the
products.asc.8 was built and then the category search would work, so I need
to know precisely what triggers that, and I thought I would get it without
having to comb through a lot of source code. I have already started reading
the source for my answers.
I also would like to know how to get a report of categories and products
under them on the screen:
Category
product 1
product 2
Fruit
Orange
Apple
Cars
GMC
Chrysler
Porsche
etc...
