[mv] Authorize.net and Minivend 4

Is there some sort of definitive way of going about making these two work 
together? So far I've read of a patch from a gentleman named Jason that I 
tried to apply and didn't manage to get to work, and the bits and pieces in 
the thread "[mv] have a strong start on an authorize.net module for MV4, 
need help." But thus far, I'm left with the impression that there is no 
real cut and dried "Do this, do this, do that, and then do this, and ta 
dah. It works."

If I'm mistaken, please someone set me straight. :o)

I'mm eager to use minivend for a couple of different projects, but if I 
can't reasonably expect to be able to interface with authorize.net, the 
time to learn minivend inside and out will be wasted time, as authorize.net 
is the only merchant account provider given me as an option for these projects.

So, what say you folks? Did I miss something searching through the 
archives? Is there a way to painlessly make minivend talk to authorize.net 
and do transactions?

Any advice appreciated.
