There's quite a bit of information about this in the archives.  Search with:
'drop cart ssl' and it will return past solutions to this problem.  I'm
currently going through the same thing with one of our clients.  The cart is
dropped for some users but not others.  The directives you should checkout
in the docs are: CookieDomain, IpQuad, IpHead, SessionExpire, and
Domaintail.
