If you really want to have a BackOffice System,

i would recomend to work with MySql/MS SQL 7.0

and let Access or Visual Basic to manage it as you wish

I'm started to work on an e-commerce site with MiniVend

I read on the list archive about a discussion on shop administration.

 I would like to program a shop admin (PHP or Perl) but if some one already started with it will be much easier and fast to continue from "something" than to start from scratch.
