RE: [mv] How can I get order-quantity to appear on a search list?
****** message to minivend-users from "Cameron B. Prince" <cameron@akopia.com> ******
Hi Victor,
You should be able to check for items in the basket at the top of the
results page. If there are any items in the basket, use a different search
region section. You'll have to do an item-list loop first, and store the
currently ordered skus, then when you actually loop over the results, if the
sku matches one that's stored, you have a different section of code for the
quantity input field.
For this custom quantity field you could use some perl to read the quantity
for this sku from the basket hash. Then use this to set the value on the
input field.
I am not sure if you have checkboxes for each item, but you could read your
list of stored skus and check them accordingly as well.
I don't have the time at the moment, but I like this idea and I may
experiment with it for Construct...
I hope my theory helps you and let me know what you think,
Cameron

Subject: [mv] How can I get order-quantity to appear on a search list?

Hi,
In my application each item that is drawn form the search list is given a
text input box so that the user can order several items from one page:
one of this, two of that, one of the otrher, then hit the Order! button.
But... after viewing the basket if they want ot come back to order some
more, I am not able to put the currently-ordered quantities as values
into the text input boxes.
In the doc, we have:
"Results page ... Search list ... NOTE: those that reference the shopping
cart do not apply, i.e. [item-quantity], [item-modifier ...] and friends.
"
I don't know why this should be but I am sure there is a good reason for
it. My query is Is there a way that I can get this information onto the
search page so that people can see what they have already ordered while
they see what else they want from the page?
Victor
