Suggest you fix this by changing match limit with a Variable setting, i.e.:

Variable   SKU_SELECTOR LIMIT    5000

Then on pages/admin/sku_selector.html

         ml=[either]__SKU_SELECTOR_LIMIT__[or]1000[/either]

This is too trivial to spend more time on. If a database gets too large,
then it is not reasonable to use this method and the Add... link should just
be removed in metadata.
