[ic] Does the choice of localhost improve IC speed?

I have a query that I have not seen here. I have always set up IC using
the Apache host name of www.mysite.com. I was wondering if anyone knows
of any reason that this might cause problems, especially with speed or
importing & uploading large files to the products directory. Also the
Debian version of MySQL that I use sets up localhost automatically when
it installs and there seems to be problems accessing the tables there
for updating them.
