individual catalogs at *.maine.com
one ssl server ssl.maine.com

cookies are .maine.com

You can make it harder and spend all sorts of
effort getting one ssl server ssl.notmaine.com to
work most of the time.  Check the docs.  It's not 
worth it if you ask me.
