For [catalogs]/error.log

  There's isn't one.  I type in "find . -name error.log -print" to make sure
of that and I only got the one for [interchange-path]/error.log.

The logfile of apache can't help very much. Look at the error.log file
in your [catalog]/error.log and/or [interchange-path]/error.log.
What did this both log files saying to you?
