It works, I have MV3 catalogs doing it now. You just need to give Minivend 
a good command string for the Encryptor directive in catalog.cfg - 
something like:

EncryptProgram  /usr/bin/gpg --no-secmem-warning -qtear key_id 2>>~/encrypt.err
