[ic] Value calculation in UI Items?

How can I calculate a value for a heading to be displayed in the Items 
display in the UI?  I need inventory (from inventory.txt) minus optim_stock 
(from products.txt).  It seems like you could just put something like 
[optim_stock minus inventory] in the item editor, but I need to know the 
syntax if it is possible.  Is it only do-able if I'm doing the calculation 
with two fields from the same table?  That would make sense.  Thank you!
