Yeah, pretty much any time you are done building something and it needs to
be installed into it's proper location, you need to be root.

I sometimes have problems with CPAN as well. If it fails you can always
install the modules one by one, but then you have to do all of the
dependencies manually, which is, a bit of pain to say the least.
