Your mixing apples and oranges...  SSL is used for the HTTPS connection 
in a secure browsing environment where as the actually encryption of 
messaging content, like the order with the ciphered CC number, is 
typically done using the standalone program PGP or GPG.  

Problems with each of those won't impact the other, so perhaps you 
should focus on one thing at a time...  You can set your site to run 
without secure browsing and at least get PGP/GPG working, and then take 
the next step since the setup of SSL requires certs, often changes to 
your HTTP server, and depending on your FQDN environment, changes in IC...
