[ic] catalog tutorial

I have downloaded the catalog turorial. My problem is I do not know enough
about this type of scripting to understand the instructions. I have created
a folder in the same location as the foundation folder and named it
tutorial. Please explain the instructions in sections 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4
of the catalog tutorial.
