[ic] valid database reference error

I am using IC 4.8.7 and have just recently started to get the error 
below when I try to edit the template using the admin UI. Changes to the 
template are not being saved. The template editor has worked previously, 
so I am not sure why its not working now.
Any help is appreciated.
