What I do to track these down in look up the session variable using the
admin. if it hasn't been too long:

Click on Administration
Click on tables
click on transactions
find the sales order number
look at the session value.

click on administration
click on show active sessions
search for the session value on the active session page. you should have the
ip address for the specific session.
