I know for a fact that 4.8.6 is definitely able to handle purchases with
options. I remember it also taking a bit of effort on my side though,
when I was trying to make things work myself, but then we had quite
specific requirements (ordering various versions of a product from a
single flypage). A pointer from Mike helped me to produce a patch to
allow this, which should be findable in the archives.

Make sure that your mv_fields are set according to the flypage
documentation (which is quite complete in this aspect); also, make sure
the SKU doesn't contain any characters that might be interpreted as
filename/filepath separators such as slashes, dots, and so on, because
these can cause a lot of trouble. Of course, also check for errors in
the error.log file (it may be a good idea to check both the store error
log and the main interchange error log, usually located in
/var/log/interchange/error.log), drop a note here if you need further
help.
