As an aside, I've found it easier to debug payment systems using a test 
page that builds a cart, sets the credit card variable, then runs the 
[charge] tag...

[charge
         gateway=itransact
         id=...
         user=...
         password=...
         referrer=...
         etc...
]

And has some error display code (like what's on ord/checkout.html).
