[ic] confusion about [if]

Hi,

I'm new to IC 4.9.7. I used 4.7 a long time ago and am just getting back 
into it.

I think I misunderstand exactly how to use search list fields in an 
[if]. I am doing something like this:

[if [item-field comment]]
   ...table row for [item-field comment]
[/if]

This is the right syntax, correct? I seem to be getting the data 
sometimes, but not always. I think it may have something to do with the 
data within the field...in some of the the cases it is not working the 
comment field contains "---- not available ----". Could it be the 
hyphens causing problems?
