Has anyone given though to using Gentoo?

It's a source based distribution, so you can compile every thing exactly 
as you need it without having to install any thing you don't need.
I have been using it for over a year now, and I am quite happy.

Up untill earlier this week I would have also recomended SuSE, how ever 
with Novell purchasing SuSe I am not sure how that is going to affect 
thier distro. So that is a wait and see issue.
