Yes, there is a limit of the maximum number of new sessions per
day. In 5.3, you can set the period with 

	Limit  robot_expire  0.01

That will expire it in about 15 minutes.

Probably better is to have the robot access a URL with 

	http://whatever.org/cgi-bin/store?mv_tmp_session=1

that will ensure that it doesn't get counted.
