I'm not sure I quite understand, but the only way I am using IC tags 
wrapped with HTML comments is to get the benchmark tag results, like 
so:

<!-- [benchmark] -->

That shows <!-- 0.003 --> in the comments (or whatever the benchmark 
is). I'm using 5.2.
