I have been using AuthNet with no problems with a commercial bank, but
I'm now setting up LinkPoint with a Credit Union because it is less
expensive and local. The CR is using YourPay (aka linkpoint). I'm having
trouble connecting to LinkPoint via curl (but that is for another
thread!)

How do I ask this credit union if there is a "middle man"? this credit
union just recently set up business and merchant accounts, and is very
new to e-commerce and payment gateways!!!
