Another thing you can try is re-use code from our Standard demo.
See how Standard does it - and then do the same thing.

Category listings are solved in Standard, and if you re-use that
approach (including code and database structure), you will end up
with a solution that is:

 1) better than what you'd write yourself, and
 2) similar to Standard, so you can later easily "borrow"
    additional functionality from it.
