[ic] Broken pipe (0)

I am seeing intermittent errors on one of my sites, and I can't seem to
track down or reproduce the problem.

Interchange error log:
- - - [03/November/2009:16:44:42 -0500] - - Died in server spawn: read:
closed at /usr/lib/interchange/lib/Vend/Server.pm line 654.
- - - [03/November/2009:16:44:42 -0500] - - Server spawn error: Can't use an
undefined value as an ARRAY reference at
/usr/lib/interchange/lib/Vend/Util.pm line 1095.

Apache error log:
[Tue Nov 03 16:44:43 2009] [error] [client 11.222.111.22] ALERT: Interchange
/cgi-bin/myshop signal: Broken pipe (0), referer: http://www.
(site).com/cgi-bin/myshop/mypage.html

I found this thread about SocketReadTimeout:
http://www.icdevgroup.org/pipermail/interchange-users/2008-February/048613.html
which seems to be a similar error. Would changing this setting be a
solution? The customers getting errors do not appear to be dial-up, so I'm
not sure if this applies to me. (It looks like this setting isn't available
in my ic version...)

This error appears to be coming from a page where I make an AJAX call to
interchange -- I'm assuming there is something with that causing this error,
but I can't seem to track it down.

Can anyone give me any ideas on how to track down this error and fix it?
