[ic] HotDBI causes catalog reconfig to fail

IC 5.7.2  (also tested on 5.6.2)
Perl  5.10.0 (threaded)
Mysql 5.0.75
MINIVEND_DISABLE_UTF8=1


When I enable HotDBI in interchange.cfg I'm getting these errors ...

"config error: products not a database, cannot use as products file"

--and--

"table 'tree' failed: table tree connect failed -- unknown error. Driver 
'mysql' installed?" (occurs for all tables in the database)

The IC sever continues to run but the catalog settings are not updated. 
Strangely, the errors only show up during reconfig of the catalogs.  
During startup everything is fine. 

Disabling HotDBI fixes the error.

Has anyone else seen this?
