[ic] Debian packages & Git version

Hello,

I fixed a number of issues in the Debian packaging for Interchange 5.7.4.

Now I would like to create a branch starting from REL_5_7_4 tag, apply my
fixes to this new branch, add a DEB_5_7_4_2 tag, build the packages
from there and finally push all changes back to the main repository.

Me and cherry-pick can deal with applying the fixes, but how can I achieve
the other steps?
