Cloudflare is not very forthcoming about what they cover. I am concerned 
as I doubt that their free service covers more than 1 URL/IP address. 
Also, can they actually cover this 2.2 million 1 time bogus accesses in 
one month on the free plan?

What can they do that can not be done with a good firewall?

I hear many comments about the free plan being good for home services, etc.

Could not get anyone on the phone to answer questions.

Hi, David. It's never fun dealing with a DDoS. Sorry to hear that.

The Cloudflare free plan has been great for a lot of my clients over
the years. Is there something about that unsuitable for you here?
