I have a very big client wanting a database driven e-commerce site that they wish to take PUBLIC. They are selling information that before the Internet could not have been disseminate in this fashion. I thought I would use MySQL and minivend. But I could do it (with allot more work of course) in PHP3 and MySQL. My question to you is (you being the expert) should I gamble (only a gamble because I haven't done this size site before) such a big job on Minivend and MySQL. They will have thousands of products in the database. One of the deep pockets keeps seeing Oracle commercials and so he wants that. I don't do Oracle, yet. The machine will have Linux 6.0, latest Apache/PHP3/MySQL, Single PII450, Asus P2B98-S, 256 Mb PC100 RAM, Enlight Raid w/ 6 4.5Gig SCSI drives. Any input from anyone would be great!

George,
We've built several sites using Minivend & Oracle, including a
complete WWW-based front to minivend store creation, inventory and order
management.
We've deployed on Linux & Oracle/Linux as well as Sun E450's, Solaris and
Oracle/Solaris.
I'm sure we can help you cut your development time, or prevent you from
re-inventing the wheel.
Our technology is in use at various places, including a few large
sites.
