httpsd error log

I have gotten a few complaints that users were having some problems
purchasing items from our store with regards to SSL. I happened to check out
the httpsd error log and found numerous errors:

[Mon Oct 11 09:56:23 1999] [error] SSL_accept failed

[Mon Oct 11 22:32:15 1999] [error] [client 216.180.22.113] Premature end of
script headers: /home/sites/johnsonemuan/cgi/quixtar

I understand from reading the documentation that the SSL_accept failed is
most likely caused by the customer's browser.

Is there any way to help this?

I have read several different things about the second error such as; child
service processes, DomainTail, IpHead and WideOpen.

I have the following installed on a Redhat v6.0 server:

apache-ssl-1.3.6_1.35-3.i386.rpm
krb5-libs-1.0-3.i386.rpm
openssl-0.9.3a-3.i386.rpm

I found an updated openssl (openssl-0.9.4-2.i386.rpm) and installed it and
it broke SSL (Thank God for rpm -e)

We had one customer who said his newly updated IE v4.0.1 was reporting: "Can
not establish secure link - encryption certificate has expired."

Do any of you have recommendations as to repairing these problems?

What's strange is we've had several orders before and since the errors are
shown and nothing within the site has changed.

It seems to be a totally random problem and I can't duplicate it.

Thanks for any assistance,

Cameron B. Prince
