help with multiple defined [random] banners?

Greetings,

I'm looking for a way to use [random] rather than [rotate] for banners
within the store. I'd like to use a particular set of banners according to
product category. From what I can gather, [random] only uses the set 15
banners and cannot be broken into subcategories. Shall I just use another
banner admin system?
