I've had good luck using scratch variables:

[set item1][item-code][/set]
[set item2][item-code][/set]

may need to be more explicit:

[set name="item1"][item-code][/set]
[set name="item2"][item-code][/set]

then on the next page

[include file="detials/[scratch item1].html"]
[include file="pictures/[scratch item2].html"]

Untested in this instance, but I've got scratch vars
that seem to survive through the entire order process
(used in email conf.).
