[mv] paging question based on browse1.html template
****** message to minivend-users from rav <r-c@rocketmail.com> ******
hi all..
i have been playing with the browse1.html file from the sample catalog
but i have come across some problems..
i've created a mock database (.ascii file not mysql) with 10 entries
all of the same category and then have used the paging sample of
browse1.html to use the arguments "0:4".. where 0 means it starts at
the 1st product and 4 means it shows 4 products at one time.
at the bottom of each page their is a next & prev button using the same
code from the browse1.html sample.
now my problem is, when i click next to display the last page of
products (9-10) the next command passes the arguments "8:4", now i
would think that this should work fine.. but.. it displays products 9 &
10 and also 2 empty product fields which i'm geussing came from the "4"
chunk size, although i thought minivend would ignore the non-existing
products when it loops through the [search-list] command or whatever..
here is the output (hopefully should make it clearer):
<cut>
Displaying matches 9-10 out of 10 found.
beetle crazy cup 4: GPC009
genre: rpg, only $57.76 ! out: 4/4/98
info: this is a good game!
beetle crazy cup 5: GPC010
genre: rpg, only $58.76 ! out: 4/5/98
info: this is a good game!
:
genre: , only ! out:
info:
:
genre: , only ! out:
info:
_Previous_
<end cut>
although it looks primitive (haven't spent any time creating a proper
database/site design yet) it shows whats happening.
does anyone know why minivend persists on showing the non-existing
products? or any suggestions on how to work around this? any help will
be appreciated :)
btw. using mv 3.14-4 on windows 98, and moving to my isp's solaris box
when finished
thanks
ravi
