I've been contemplating using minvend for a while now,
looked over its features, installed and tried the simplecat demo, etc and
it seems very powerful and well done.
Before I invest a lot of time into configuring, I was wondering
a couple things...

Is there a way to customize the total-cost variable name to be something
other than total-cost? Say for example that the payment gateway will want
nothing
other than a varibale named total-charge parsed over to their server.

Again I'm not looking for a total answer (as I'm sure this is probably way
too basic a question for here) just a simple yes or no.

And lastly, would it be recommended that a strong background in Perl would
be required to implement minivend for a small product website?

Anyways any input will be appreciated.  I'm trying to decide if I should
invest time in minivend or search for alternatives.
