You can do an awful lot with minivend without ever touching Perl. I really
helps to be at least passingly familiar with Perl expressions and syntax,
because some of Minivend resembles that beast, but I would not say it is
100% necessary, unless you want to write your own user tags or customize
the source code. The docs and the mailist archive contain enough minvend
examples to get you going while sparing you the Perl experience...for a
while, anyway.
With regards to total cost, if nothing else, you could pass its value to a
hidden form field of your own, with the name of your choice, and send that
to your payment gateway. There are many roads to glory!
