This is from the 3.1x docs:
"The [data ...] and [field ...] tags access elements of MiniVend databases.
They are the form used
outside of the iterating lists, and can be effectively used to do lookups
when the table, column/field or key/row is conditional based on a previous
operation."
Read up on "DATA and FIELD" in the "Minivend Tag Reference" section of the
docs.
I will tell you one thing that was not very evident to me after reading the
same: [item-code] references the first column of whatever the current
database is, even your own arbitrary databases.
