[mv] MiniMate for 3.x users: How should the 3 configurations work?

I have been experiencing trouble in my catalog of late, and a cursory
reading of the minivend error.log indicates to me that I may not be
properly reconfiguring my catalog.cfg when I think I am. If you know
anything about this (or a source of documentation) please reply!

I am using MiniMate (not 4; the one useable with MV 3.14) to administer
and reconfigure my catalog. What I have been doing is editing the
catalog.cfg with emacs and then reconfiguring with MiniMate.

I use the framed admin style of minimate (the one launched from
/cgi-bin/store/admin/menu.html) and in the upper frame I see three
configuration table cells: one each for Working, Running, and Saved.

I expect that when I click on 'reconfigure' in the working cell, I should
update the date displayed in the Running cell and Saved cell, ie working
becomes Running becomes Saved.

This does not happen- a successful reconfiguration message displays in the
top frame, but the contents of the Working, Running, and Saved cells do
not change. Does this mean that my catalog isn't really reconfiguring?
