Thanks for the response Christopher. 

  To clarify about what I mean by "Route", I'm referring specifically to
the "Route" attribute that is possible in catalog.cfg as described in
the documentation here:
 http://www.minivend.com/minivend/docindex/18.03.Custom_Order_Routing.html

I believe they work somewhat differently than categories, since
Categories can be defined in a database, but Routes are defined in
catalog.cfg in this format:

<snip>
Route  VEN  email           orders@minivend.com
</snip>

It's not straightforward to manipulate because it's got 4 parts rather
than being a basic name/value pair. Any further ideas are appreciated.
