Re: [mv] Problems with dns and IE --HELP--
****** message to minivend-users from bjordan@sover.net (bob jordan) ******
Hi Chris
That's my reading, although I don't claim to read MSspeak very well. ;-)
One of my clients, on 3.14 with a fairly recent
conversion from VeriSign to Thawte, is getting daily complaints of not
being able to reach the checkout page.
To date, although the sample is small, everyone who has contacted me
with details is using MSIE5.0x. I have spent several hours with
Thawte and the ISP and have tried upgrading SSLeasy.
What we're seeing is SSL errors in the Apache log:
[Wed Feb 9 22:24:46 2000] SSL_Accept failed
[Wed Feb 9 22:24:46 2000] error:14094412:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:sslv3
alert bad certificate
And the visitor gets no page. Here's one of the feedback reports:
I have tried to place an order several times and I keep getting
"This page cannot be displayed. It also says "Cannot find server".
I have Internet Explorer version 5.00.2314.10031C
The domain name of the secure/non-secure pages is the same. Thawte
has accessed the site and maintains the cert is proper.
Using Apache/1.2.6 secured_by_Raven/1.2.1.
I'm about to suggest that these customers try the MSIE fix and see if
it helps. We've been unable to duplicate the problem with our version
of MSIE5.0, or any other browser.
Does anyone else have any similar experiences?
