Thanks for the help Ed! 

  Since I last wrote, I got "makecat" to work, and used that method to
install the new store. Although this has worked for me before, and the
new installation seems to be functionally identical to working "basic"
demo I set up (I'm using MV4, btw), I'm still getting this error! It's
very per perplexing. The "index.html" file is in fact in the right
place, and from what I can tell, the "special_pages" directory and the
"missing.html" file are also in the right place. The only difference I
can tell is that this one as the tlink/vlink script as
/cgi-bin/store.cgi while the other one has it as just "store.cgi".
  Everything related to the script path seems in order as well (and it
doesn't seem related to the error), but It's the only thing left I can
think to fiddle with.
