Re: [mv] UserTags not working - FIXED

****** message to minivend-users from Ed LaFrance <edlafrance@printexusa.com> ******

I installed Minivend 4.03 and now the usertags work fine! I wish I could
offer an explanation. I had performed a complete reinstall of version 4.02
- deleting all files and directories and starting with the distribution
archive - twice, and the problem persisted. Perhaps my copy of the archive
was damaged in some subtle way? Or maybe this relates to the "init.pl"
error, which has been fixed in 4.03.

Wait! Don't draw the curtain yet! When I start Minivend with MINIMATE
enabled, I get this message:

www-pws7: {60} % mvend4/bin/minivend -start -u
Low traffic settings.
Calling MiniMate....
Out of memory!
Out of memory!
Out of memory!
Callback called exit, <GLOBAL> chunk 1139.
END failed--cleanup aborted, <GLOBAL> chunk 1139.
Out of memory!
Segmentation fault
www-pws7: {61} %

Taking this at face value, I disabled Minimate in minivend.cfg, and the
server started up without trouble. I've tested the demo catalog and
everything seems to work ok. Here's a look at the server running:

USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TT STAT STARTED TIME COMMAND
visprox 14102 0.0 0.3 10376 1472 ?? Ss 7:51PM 0:00.11 minivend

The memory consumption looks normal, and if I am reading it correctly, the
sever has plenty of memory to spare.

What are the additional memory requirements for running Minimate? If the
ISP has restricted memory usage for this account, I will have to ask them
for more headroom, and give them a realistic number. Or does anyone think
that something else is going on here?

Thanks!

- Ed L.
