[mv] Multiple SQL Databases
****** message to minivend-users from kswisher@iolinc.net (Swisher, Karl) ******
Hello,
After reading in the archieve I'm a little confused. I have been using
Postgres. It has been working to my satisfaction so far. I've created the
tables outside the Minivend environment. Two of the tables I'm using have a
serial field and I have had no problems writing and reading data to/from them in
Minivend.
Now I want to do something a little different. which I think I should
be able to do but haven't had success yet. I want to split the database into
two databases with some of the tables in one and the rest in another. I
created two new databases using psql and then copied my existing database
into each of these. Then I used drop for the tables I didn't want in each
and edited the catalog.cfg to reflect this. A restart of Minivend shows no
errors. The catalog compiles in just fine. However Minivend can only find the
first database. If it tries to access a table in the second database it errors
out with a "can't find table" in the error.log. I have verified the data in
both databases with psql. The tables and data are there.
I'm not sure if this is something that Minivend can't do or a problem
with Pg.DBD or Postgres itself especially after reading the archieve list.
Would switching to MySql fix this ?
I'm using Postgres 6.5.3, RH6.1, Minivend 3.14-3, DBD-Pg-0.93, DBI-1.13
Thanks
Karl
