Paul,

with your test.pl, _I_ get 

HELLO WORLD
<BR>Error:Permission denied

too!!!

You _canīt_ get any files like this, because the visitor is not the
owner of this files. The visitor isnīt the minivend user. If the file
test.txt _is_ in your www/html directory beside of your index.html, this
would work. In my case, i get

Once more...did you ask your ISP for helping you?
