I was just about to post my results.  Our server was restarting 
anywhere from 5 to 10 times a day, very rarely would we go for
a day w/out a restart.

I made the changes above Saturday morning and have not had a 
restart since.  This server is doing about 20,000 MV pages a 
day.

I had also decreased hammerlock to 15 seconds when I was having the 
problem which seemed to help with hard lockups (where a kill -9
was required).  I set that back to 30 this morning and the number
of reaped processes has dropped as well.

Looks good to me.
