Hi folks,

OK, now you've got me tempted! Well, way back around 1995, I embarked on a book on the
global growth of the Internet. I spent about a year researching the book (part-time),
and ultimately produced a proposal of about 100 pages! After shopping it around to a
few publishers, none of whom was interested, I decided to move on, and continue work on
other aspects of getting a business started. As you can imagine, I still once in a
while have thoughts of doing a book. Indeed, it was just the other day I received an
e-mail asking whether I have written a book, or plan on doing one, from a listener who
heard me on Wisconsin Public Radio, when I was a guest on one of their talk shows.

Maybe I have an, err..., hook here! I think what might work is not necessarily a book
on Minvend alone, but something like "The Best of OpenSource/Free Software." I think a
compendium of documentation and how-to of the best OpenSource/Free Software would be a
great boon to many people who would want a handy reference and/or starter book. Right
of the top of my head, I'm imagining a project that will be collaborative, in the true
spirit of the Open Source, with different contributors, an editor, and heck, one might
be even able to get Richard Stallman to write a preface or intro. I interviewed about
GNU him late last year on my call-in radio program on WORT FM
(http://www.netphoria.com/wort) and it was a great show.

The above is the gem of an idea that might just work. What do you think? [It seems
this topic just won't die ...]
