Thanks Joel for that repost I can see where the code you shared is extremely
useful for compatibility issues however in our requirement there are too
many combinations available to hard code a complete compatibility list. I
need to only allow one of each category to be ordered and declare some of
the categories as mandatory to allow an order to be processed.

So if a user selected a different item from one category it would replace
the item from that category already in the cart.

PPS With the code you have shown how would you declare different quantities
for each item? Ie M100001 x1 M1000002 x 5 HDI-QUANTUM20.3G x 3 M200512 x2
.... This is another small problem we can't seem to fix on another single
submit order page.
