[mv] How to avoid spaces in URL-tags

Hi!
I'm using Micro$oft FrontPage server + the server-extensions to maintain a
MiniVend 4.14-site. My problem is that a URL tag like this:
<a HREF="[area [item-code]]">[item-field title]</a> is converted by
FrontPage to <a HREF="[area%20[item-code]]">[item-field title]</a>(it
changes the space to %20).
Is there a way to avoid writing spaces, or is it possible to use a
config-parameter so that MV knows how to handle this situations?
