Are you saying minivend does not require programming skills ?
You know, I am getting pretty upset if someone still says these days you
don't need programming skills to efficiently _understand_ MiniVend.
It's a lie and everyone who wants to convince me otherwise to sell me
MiniVend (or his services) I consider irresponsible.
You need darn well very good Perl programming skills, may be
many of you are still clipping and pasting the simple demo and go far with
it (and then are very proud to have made it), but that's not what I
consider enough from a consultant.
How can you understand MiniVend without digging deep in the source
code ? You don't need to have programming skills for that ? How come ?
When I encountered MiniVend in 1996 it had may be thirty tags or so.
It looked very easy at that time. It made you believe you could get by
with simply modifying the simple catalog, no programming skills needed,
no Perl needed. I never really quite believed this even in the early days,
but today that's definitely over and actually who wants really cut and
paste a shopping cart without really understanding what the program is
doing and how.
I mean, contrary, the challenge is to figure out the logic behind the
tags. Not so ? 8-)
